Queer & Trans Resiliency Series
A monthly community yoga series exploring breath, movement, and yoga’s ethical teachings.
📅 Third Sunday of each month 🕑 2:00–3:00 PM* 📍 502 Power Yoga 💙 $10 per class 🧑🏫 Led by Jo O’Bryan
The Queer & Trans Resiliency Series is a monthly gathering created for queer folx to connect through movement, breath, reflection, and community.
Together, we’ll explore yoga beyond the physical practice by learning about the yamas and niyamas—the first two limbs of yoga’s eight-limbed path. These ethical teachings offer practical guidance for how we relate to ourselves, each other, and the world around us.
Each month focuses on one of the ten yamas and niyamas. While the teachings build throughout the series, every class is designed to stand on its own, so you’re welcome to join for one session or attend all ten.
Meet the Teacher
Jo O’Bryan brings together thoughtful movement, mindfulness, and community-centered teaching to create an inclusive space where participants can explore yoga both on and off the mat. Jo started practicing yoga in high school in search of a movement practice that felt joyful and non-competitive. They found that in yoga, along with a newfound feeling of aliveness, curiosity, and connection to themself. Jo completed their 200-hour YTT at 502 Power Yoga in 2019 and Yin Yoga training in 2024. Jo believes in the power of the practice to increase self-trust, acceptance, and radical compassion. Jo finds refuge in the teachings of yoga – tools for care in times of suffering and guides for social justice work. Jo enjoys sharing the practice with a variety of populations and learning in community. Jo has shared the practice with children, elderly folks, queer youth, and individuals in substance use recovery. Jo is pursuing masters in Social Work and Couples and Family Therapy. They love walks through the park, sending/receiving voice memos, and daydreaming.
